Default Beaufort NC October 31

I get out about 200 days a year on the water either as a fisherman or sport fishie boat driver for fishermen and today was clearly the best day of the year so far fishie wise. A friend of mines son is on leave from Iraq and wanted to catch some big fish so we hit the water at dark on radar and were at the northwest places in 72 feet of water around day break which is only 13 miles out of the inlet. Big schools of 15 to 20 pound Albies were everywhere pushing up hundreds of flying fish so we trolled around until we lost them and put down two deep downriggers with green huntington drone spoons, two lines with pink feather rigs with berkleys gulp shrimp and two large sized clark and tony acetta spoons on 10 oz trolling weights at about 4 to 6 mph. The way back line was a red and white yo-Zuri rattler smacking along on the surface. By 10 am we had 12 kings in the boat from 38 to 46 inches and two big amberjacks and must have thrown back 12 or 13 albies in the 15 or so pound range. At 11 were were working the cape lookout rock jetty for trout and caught 7 with the biggest at 25 inches then they quit so we moved to the AR 315 reef off atlantic city to catch some nice flounder on berkleys gulp shrimp baits with the biggest at 21 inches. We had the sons girlfriend along who got too much sun as it was in the 70's so we were in by 3 or we would of had some nice puppy drum .....If any of you guys like to catch kings they willl be hungry and close to the beach for another three weeks or so until the yellowfin tuna come in followed by december and january 40 pound plus stripers which are suckers for big eye yellow and white bucktails , white umbrella rigs , live eels and manns stretch 25's in the baby dolphin green color...Frank
