Hopefully everyone here who is in his path are prepared. “Just” a CAT 1, but I have seen some significant damage from those so be ready and be safe!

More easterly track resulted in reduced wind and surge across Long Island .

That, plus reduced forward speed and reduced intensity .

Hurricane of 1938 remains the benchmark for Long Island and related north east .
Was a Cat 3 with critical forward speed of about 50 mph when it crossed Long Island.

Welcome to the club, my northern brothers. We entertained Grace last weekend, 64 mph winds with a lot of rain on top of all the rain we ve been having..

Not sure how it works up there, but landing as a sub hurricane might mean standard deductible on homeowners might apply rather than the ridiculous hurricane deductible.

Good luck and stay safe

Good news is bite really turns on after a big blow.

Cool

Lots of rain. Parts of Interstate Rt 80 and Interstate Rt 287 are under flash flood warning. A few trees down locally, but nothing to write home about. Sandy and Irene were much, much worse. We're in the thick of it as far as NJ goes, but all we're getting is lots of rain, no real wind. More than 2 inches have fallen already with another inch expected before it stops. My phone has gone off with Flash Flood alerts several times already. Not in any danger where I am.

Same here for Staten Island, plenty of rain, no wind, right now a steady rain with a wind that looks around 15-20.

Default Henri in RI

Seven sailboats and one powerboat hit the beach in Jamestown, RI in the East Ferry area. Additionally, one power boat turtled at its mooring. Power was lost for everyone on the island for at least six hours.
