Default WTB V20 Steplift

What a great board/community. After being told I should drop 15-20K on a used GW or Parker, I discovered the V20. I am located in DC area, but will keep the boat at a slip in Oxford, MD. Getting our new place there has tapped me out for cash, so my budget is small, but it sure seems like I get a lot for money with an older V20.

I am looking for a V20 Steplift with seating for several - we may fish a little, but with my 2 and 1 year old and visitors, we are really looking for a fun cruising/fishing/exploring boat that is reliable and safe.

Basically I am looking for this

1983 Wellcraft V20 Cuddy cabin
Volvo-Penta 270 outdrive Rebuilt marine engine installed May 2004, 305 CID motor (GM small block ) with less than 10 hours on the motor. New Volvo exhaust manifolds, new osco risers. New thermostat. HEI ignition, 4bbl carb.New Volvo Shift/throttle control. New trim hoses for outdrive. New teleflex gauges (except it has the original volvo trim gauge) new LED marine toggle switches and new fuse holders in dash. Most of the boat has been re-wired using upgraded tinned copper marine wire, tinned connectors, crimped, soldered and heat shrink tubing used on all upgraded wiring. New fuse box behind the console. New VHF Radio and antennea. New AM/FM/Cass stereo w/2 speakers. I added cockpit lights, and 2 power outlets at the helm. Dual battery system with new battery switch. Battery hatches replaced with new plastice hatches. Rod holders and most deck hardware upgraded to stainless steel. Bimini top. Just put the first coat of deckpaint on this weekend. All the old screw holes were filled. New deck plates in the hatch above the fuel tank when the core of that hatch was replaced. New rubrail. I had a section of the stringers replaced at a yacht repair shop when I lived in Virginia. Where the motor mounts bolt into the stringers had some water intrusion, the didn't use bedding compound and sealer when the motor was originally installed. I have trimmed down the bow rail about 6 inches, it always seemed to be right in my line of sight. I have dones tons of other stuff on the boat also, just too much to list. I was doing a little maintenance and repair and like always, I got carried away.

Thank you Skool, indeed I do. Only problem is, I'm off for vacation next week and won't be taking pictures until I get back! There are a few pictures in my gallery but they are liable to scare you off - done ALOT of work since those pics were snapped. If you ain't bought Franco's boat by then, stop in a take a look :)

I'm gonna be clearing house when I get back. I have 3 boats to sell (2 with motors) and 2 separate small motors 5hp and 1.5hp and the 150 Yamaha that's posted on this board (butterfly not included ;)).

IMHO that '72 needs a 20" motor. I do have a fixed mount jackplate, but I would not be doing that transom a favor by putting that jackplate back on it. If somebody wants to buy both, well they can have at it and do that if they so desire. The transom is strong now, but I just wouldn't take any chances.

Selling separately should allow more flexibility for the buyer(s) too, i.e. somebody that just needs a motor, or somebody that already has a motor and needs a hull, etc. Again, just my opinion though.

Winsot, I don't know if you're still looking, but if you find a V-20 with the fittings in the deck for the full stern bench, I have a bench in good condition in my shed that I'm not going to use any more. It can easily seat three adults or some mixture of kiddos and adults. Fits best in a hull with a bracket.
