Default New Guy

Hey guys I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ross and I live in Charleston South Carolina. I have been a member for a year but have never posted.

Last year my wife and I were given a "free" 1986 V20. It was been in the back yard and rained in since 1990. Anyway for the most part it has cleaned up well and I repowered with a 2004 Johnson 140. It is a little underpowered but overall very happy with the boat.

Welcome...nice boat! I don't think you are under powered with a 140...should be fine..

Nice to have you here.

Welcome to the site!
You will be surprised how a 140 gets it up on plane with various differing loads compared to other boats close to this class.

140 should move her along nicely. Maybe not the 50 MPH that a 200 or a 225 will do, but in the ocean you can hardly do that anyways. Great looking boat. Congrats!

WELCOME TO THE SITE!!!!

Thats a white Suzuki DF140. plenty of power unless you're a speed demon. I get 36 mph loaded down with 60 gals, a hardtop & a ton of gear and a flat ocean. She cruises really nice in bumpy water at 21 to 25 mph. Nice looking boat. Welcome

Welcome!!!

I find the Johnzuki 140 perfect power for the V20.

What prop are you running?

I have found that a 14x19 works great for heavy loads/water skiing and a 14x21 is great the rest of the time, gets the rpms down a little.

I get 39-40 mph top speed with either.
