Default Finally fished Saturday, May 27........

Broke Shark River Inlet around 6:30 hearing of no stripers being caught on VHF.......

With bunker, good marks and some birds just outside the inlet I gave it a troll effort with the spoons and umbrella..........nothing.
Headed north setting up on another area of birds - saw it was small blues so switched to a little jig and that was the ticket with cast and retrieve. Boxed 8 or so good eating size blues before it quit.

Took a ride up to Raritan where the fleet was fluking but that was super slow.
Ran out to the hard bottom off the highlands and bailed seabass anchored up, caught too many to know.....likely 30-50 fish with half dozen keepers.

Nice day..........seems fewer stripers around overall than last year.
Raritan bite was ok this spring, but seems fewer ocean fish after a pod of the large moved through for 1 week.

V21.....appreciated as usual. Why get a bigger boat with fewer fish around and all the room this boat features ?

Not that our old V boats are perfect.....but sure have a useful layout.
I occasionally shop the next boat....mostly just the SeaCraft Sceptre
compares to offer a bit more hull....but most require major work - stringers, decks, tanks and transom.

That's how it is wth 20-30 year old boats made with a lot of wood.
Old Grady's the same issues.
Step 20 - Where are you located ?

launched Sunday. New dock on the other side of Rt35 bridge, same wicked current but at least its bow/stern not sideways. I'll be able to sit at the dock, drink beer & fish the bridge at night!

NJ Fish&game is docked right next to me...so the Conservation Officer comes as we are rigging our dock lines..."You guys been out yet?" ...""Not yet..." so his partner shows up and they head out...my brother says "Now I gotta go home and print out that "NJ Saltwater Registration card"...

Got out in the afternoon and snagged a few bunker baits but no bites. tried Manasquan river for fluke, got one small bluefish that's it.
