'72 Wellcraft V20 in NC w/trailer (no motor)

1972 Wellcraft V20 with 20" transom. 1979 Cox Tandem axle trailer with new bearings, springs, u-bolts, grease, bearing buddies, rims, wheels, and winch. Rollers are in decent shape. Straight sturdy fenders. New lights and recently got a title for the trailer in my name. Previous owner never bothered to get title transferred to him. 3 - year NC registration sticker just purchased for the boat as well.
I've jumped up and down all over the deck of this boat and I cannot find any soft spots anywhere.

Hull has had the following done by me:

- filled old screw holes with marinetex and sanded.
- (4) new stainless flush-mount rod holders.
- new lighted switch panel and new wiring.
- dash covered with 1/4" starboard.
- 2 20 gallon aluminum saddle gas tanks were pulled out, cleaned, dried and reinstalled. Port tank has small leak near the top which can be fixed. I'll likely fix it in the next few days.
- newer stainless destroyer steering wheel.
- new teleflex no feedback steering helm and cable
- 2 Todd adjustable pedestal chairs (3 yrs old)
- new docking cleats
- new gas lines and 3-way valve.
- new bow and stern lights
- 500 gph bilge pump
- compounded and waxed the sides
- new stainless screws in bulkheads
- freshly oiled teak on top of cuddy.
- I have 2 used bimini tops. Both Blue. One can snap to windshield while the other you can stand under. The one you can stand under is in excellent shape. The other one is in fair shape. One pole is slightly bent.

I just spent $800 on the transom. Previous owner had transom replaced, however it was not done correctly. The outer glass was not bonded to the new wood properly and caused a crack to develop in the lower part of the transom (only cracked the glass). I took it to a professional fiberglass repairman and he cut the outer skin off, filled any necessary voids with filler, ground all of the original cuts down to nothing, re-did the fiberglass around the cuts with some matte or roven woving and fiberglass, sanded, then sprayed on gel-coat. It looks very good and I don't forsee the previously mentioned crack coming back. There is absolutely zero rot in this transom. I know because after he cut the skin off, I stopped by to look at it. 150hp should be the perfect motor for this boat.

Trailer should be ready for serious towing. This boat is ready for a motor. Pictures to come...there a few in my gallery, but not very good pics. Reason for selling - I was going to finish this project but I ran across and bought a V21 (look in 4- sale section and you'll see where I bought a 94 V21.) Please ask any questions. It will be going on eBay in a few days. I just thought I'd try here first.

I used the boat approx. 5 times with a Johnson 140hp and it ran great until the crack developed in the transom. I've owned it for a little less than a year and have done a lot of work on it. I have the bow-rail removed. The rail is in good shape but in order to re-install, new hardware would be needed. I was going to just leave it off.

I'll take $1800. I have over $2400 invested not counting labor, starboard, and stainless screws.

Purchased boat and trailer for $900. Spent $450 on trailer rebuild. $800 for transom. $300 for captain chairs.

Yes, I still have the boat. There is no other damage to the hull that I am aware of.

I took the boat out with a 140hp Johnson on a fixed mount jackplate and the hull did well, other than the transom, which I had to have fixed. I would not - I repeat - I would not put a jackplate back on it if I were you. It needs a 20" motor to be right.

I promised a member of the board - Winsotnbike - first chance. I'm planning to post pictures by tomorrow.

Sorry guys, I wasn't able to get the pics like I promised yesterday. My daughter won a $250 voucher at a bike shop so we had to get there before closing at 7pm last night. Didn't make it back until after dark.
