Default 2006 duramax 6.6L

I'm going to look at a used diesel truck tomorrow deal mabye to good to pass up. I need a pull truck for my V and a famly friend has a Chevy 2500HD duramax and wants $5000. There is over 150,000 miles but has just had the front end repaired fairly new shocks and two brand new batteries. Suposed to run like a charm might be just the ticket for me I only need it once or twice a year to go to the coast.

Any one have any personal experience with this truck

WAY overkill for a V-20, sounds like you will need a BIGGER boat. I know ridgerunner has an 06 that I've worked on for him, as well as his boss has one, and there yard has an 01 they hung onto. 150K miles isn't bad for one if it was taken care of, and not hammerred on with a big tune in it.

Not w that truck BUT as a diesel owner..... It's not a good match for that use... A 1/2 ton gasser will be far cheaper to operate and more than capable of handling that load....

Buy a diesel only if you NEED a diesel.

That said, 5k sounds REDICOLOUSLY cheap.... If you don't want it I do!

I say buy it, sell it for a huge profit, and pick up a gasser for your uses.... That is unless you just WANT a diesel and don't mind the higher cost of use.

smokes right, that's it a heck of a deal. if you don't put 20,000-30,000 miles a year and pull a trailer 3-5 days a week, diesel is not worth it.

that being said, if i could find a deal like that, i'd be all over it

Ok thank you your all right about the gas job being enough to pull the V. Except I trailor it from my place to Prince Rupert on the west coast through the Rocky and coastal mountian ranges 1400km one way. That being said you'd destroy/melt a transmission so a dessel is the only choice I got if I want to keep going and be independent of others.

I could at least double my $$$$ it has been looked after one driver non smoker loaded Ect. It's only packed a tidy tank around and was used as a pilot truck for big loads.

If it's not what I need I'll flipp it for double the price and upgrade my GPS. The O'l man and I are going to look at it today and most Likly it will will be the newest member of The Hooligan Fishing Team.

Buy it! Or let me know how to buy it. Transmissions are north of the asking price. Heck a decent paint job is north of $5K.. Regal GMC just said it would start at $5k to paint the 2001 GMC. The 2001 was the first year GM offered the Duramax 6.6 and Allison, we got one of the first trucks to hit Florida. It had a few issues that were covered under warranty, injectors and a bad torqe converter. Currently sitting on 175K and I would not hesitate to take it cross country. Has been hauling a 24' flatbed gooseneck trailer for the past 9 years. Combined weight of 14,000 lbs. when loaded. Brakes are awesome. Deisel maintenance and fuel price are the only drawbacks IMO.

Sold and in my yard nice clean truck. Started up after sitting for two months no blue/black smoke just purred away. Two brand new batteries starter and alternator were replaced 6 months ago. The front end was done last fall steal of a deal I'm thinking.

Wondering why it had a starter put in it. You don't often hear of them burning out in these trucks. The normal problems with the starters is people break them taking the wires off the solenoid.
