Default Tough week, good day

This past week, a 19 year old young man, Conner Beeson, was killed in a freak accident. He was a well liked kid from a good family who are very involved in the community. The whole community was rocked.

My son and a few of his buddies (all high school seniors) got it in their minds that they were going to put together a car/truck show in Conner's honor.

They worked hard all week and said they had everything all arranged. I offered several times to lend a hand but they said they had it.

This morning it was 38 degrees and raining, at 1 pm when the event was to begin, the rain stopped, the sun came out, people came out from all over, and we celebrated Conner's life.

We fed 100's of people and collected plenty of donations to go towards a scholarship his parents are starting in Conner's memory.

The boys had everything covered, they had gone to the Mayor and got permission to use the cities park and a building the city owns. They arranged for someone to bring a giant cooker on a trailer, they got hot dogs and all the stuff that goes with them donated and or bought, drinks, coolers, sound system, tables and chairs...everything but onions.

I am so proud of my son and his friends for doing this for their friend and his family, it was a great day of sharing, and healing and it was good for the whole town.

Here are some pics from the day.

Conner's truck, he was big into the 4x4 diesel scene.

I didn't count them all, but I bet there were 100 4x4's there.

Some of the kids have cars too.

Couple old guys showed up too.

I have to say that God had to play a huge part in the boys getting all this put together so fast. They were still in the talking about it stage Wednesday night at church.

My pictures above don't really tell the story of how many people were there, I looked out one time from where we were serving the food and saw at least 1000 people gathered around his family and his truck.

Thumbs up

Sorry to hear about the young man, but your son and his friends are an inspiration.

I couldn't agree more.

I cannot begin to fathom what his family is going through. I hope it helps them and everyone to celebrate his life this way.

What a great post.... I have to agree with all that answered what a wonderful and Christian thing you son and his friends did.. And yes God did have a hand in it bringing in the good weather and sending all those people there to support the family and friends... I know you are very proud of your son as well as you should be!!! We hear so much about the bad things our youths do but very little about all the good they do..
