great little hull, looks like a fun boat. fl registration for sale in nc. maybe he bought the boat in fl, spent money on the trailer to get it home. dug into it deeper, didn't like what he saw, and wants to move on.
but then again, i'm overly suspicious

Charlie, I'll tell you the truth about McKee Crafts, I've had two, with one being up for sale right now. They are good boats, but not great boats. They take a lot of hp to run, they are very heavy, they're wet and they pound. But to get a better running hull in the same class, you are going to have to spend some money. They are what they are, a good cheap boat that serves a purpose. don't even think these boats will compare to a whaler, they are similar, but Whaler(the classic ones) has a much better hull design and weigh a bunch less. But you could still buy three McKees for what one Whaler would cost. If my 16 was a 15 Whaler, I would have sold it ten times over for twice the price. That being said, I put a water pump in a guys merc for my 14(with trailer) and got another 14 with no trailer for a 12 pack of Bud Light(gave that to my freind Marc). I painted a guys stand up paddle board with Awlgrip for the one I have now. Obviously, they were no where near their present condition, but a similar Whaler would still bring more for a crapped out hull than that 17 is going for. IF you like the boat, go for it, we can paint it green, don't know about putting barn doors on it though.

see? now that's some dang feedback. thanks spare. just kinda pre-looking right now as the dough wont be coming through for another couple months. what I do kind of like is the proline/mako/aquasport 17 foot center console. small enough to drag where ever and heavy enough to get me outside on a nice day. good on gas and big enough for a small family.

also like the simplicity of a maritime skiff. aint cheap but just basic stuff. 18 to 20 foot skiff or panga or the like.

The marintime is $$$. There's a 20 cuddy down here that's sharp! The mako/aqua sport 17 has been copied by a lot of other manufactures as well(key West, Sea Pro, etc) so there more options for you there. I had a 20 Proline and it was a great inshore boat, I was surpised as to how shallow that boat would float. The 17's tend to be stern heavy and are not balanced as well as the 20.

I've owned 4 McKees, one that had an engine that ran. What Spare said is all true. The one I had that ran wasn't waterlogged and was still heavy for a 14 ft boat. Another 14 I had took 5 guys, 2 of them literally sumo wrestler size to load onto my trailer with my wife cranking the winch. Soaked to the brim. Reel had a Southporter model which is the dual console version with the same hull as the one in your first post. He always chimes in and says they ride rough. I gave away one like the one in your ad once. Even with the rough shape it was in I could have slapped a boston whaler sticker on the side and gotten $3500 multiple times from someone who didn't know the difference. All that being said, they are cool boats though I think.

After a nuclear war all that will be left is radiation, cockroaches, and old McKee Craft hulls.

awesome feedback guys. so here's the deal. the boss decided she would split my retro check with me. gotta see what i'm gonna get. if I get ove 2k then i'm gonna buy a little something to get me on the water. if it's less i'm gonna buy the bicycle I want and wait until her car loan is over, then take out a loan and buy something in the 8 to 12k range.
