hi guys i have been looking into a pro injection kit for my 3.7 just wondering if anyone has one fitted on a boat or car some feed back would be good
the system is about 1200 us and it may sound like alot for a carby replacement but as you no im hp hungry and with efi the engines start fast and idle cold---im thinking i will get better fuel evonomy and more hp and better throttle response---for those who are thinking i should just upgrade the engine its not cheap to do so here |

Can't believe I missed this one. ProJection by Holley. Excellent on driveability and simplicity, poor on fine tuning for max HP. Not enough sensors IMO. They used baro, MAP, throttle position and water temp. With the change in weather we have in FL. and the infinitely variable tuning, it could cause you to go mad. Worked like a charm just like the throttle body EFI on the late 80's Chevy trucks. Make reliable power. UBHSTRY - Is that what you ended up using??

When they work, they work. Once they get worn, most I know would pay you to take em off there hands. They do get good milage with alot of top end kick when they work, and they are fairly simple compared to EFI.

Ferm, one of the best things I've purchased over the years was the Carb Shop sold a primary throttle shaft bushing kit, it came with new throttle blade screws, bronze bushings and a modified drill bit that reamed out the throttle bores. The kit had enough parts in it to do 20 carbs. No one in my area liked Q-Jets, so i took it upon myself to learn about them. HP books has a great book that explains a lot about what goes on in a Q-Jet and how to modify them. Every one was preaching Holley, but my Q-Jets worked just fine, never mind the fact that you can usually pick them up for $20

Had a 84 Monte Carlo with an electric Q-jet on a 305 SBC that would barely break the tires loose if you romp it just right (2.48 rear end from the factory) Tuned it down with some closed chamber heads and 10.5:1 compression and got something like 20 mpg. Exhaust sounded like it was running through a straw with the full muffler. Ditched the 305 for a 350 and wound up with a 150 shot of Nitrous, always with a Q-jet. Holley never blew my skirt up, I do like the Carter AFB for performance. Got to try one and it seemed to make the car faster with zero setup or tuning. Never actually owned one.
Projection 2-barrel was tried and liked but it was holding us back. Its beauty was the simplicity, we could have set the tuning parameters and simply forgot about it, but we wanted more. On a RV, boat or daily driver I think it would be a good thing due to the reliability but probably not the most efficient.
