Wink Gold

For the last two weeks, I was getting a lot of reports of a sick Weakfish bite in Jamaica Bay. We didn't go out last week and this past week the bite was still heavy, but the Weakfish run lasts for about only two weeks. Yesterday I was told, it wasn't as heavy as other days, but they were still picking them up at the change of the tide. We were fishing by 07:30 and had nothing but Spots and short Sea Bass until the tide changed. I got a nice hit, picked up this nice 3 1/2 pound Weak and then a spike (short). That was it for the weak's and then the Blues came. The water was boiling across 1/2 the bay for about a hour and we were chasing them all over. We picked away, I got four nice ones on Gina's fishing pole, a 4' ugly stick with a small spinner, 6 pound test line.

Nice!

The weakfish usually show up thick along the beach at Sea Girt just about now. I'll have to give that a try next time out.

Sometimes I do, I have two friends who have their boats there, so they will call and say come with us. Sometimes the boat ride is quicker than the trip by car, especially with that Belt.

Giorgio if I caught that trout in SC where I fish I would have a one man limit. Only 1 per person there......and they are THICK as thieves.

Default Limit

Here in NY we also have a 1 man bag limit with a 16" min. limit, NJ has a 1 limit but a 13" min. limit. My sister lives in SC, Hilton Head.

Giorgio,

Thanks for the pic's, makes me look forward to a few days off I have next week and plan to go fishing.

MJ,

You? getting "skunked"? Well, that does not make me feel good about fishing next week. I heard there was a lot of algae in BB which is keeping the fishing poor. Hoping it clears out.
