Default Pricing New Motor

I just came back from one of our local dealers. The pricing on an Evinrude 150 Etec is $11,880 just for the motor. $2500 for the controls box and cables. Does this sound reasonable? It sounds like highway robbery to me.

Reasonable? Doesn't sound like it to me. But it is a boat and we all know what it stands for BRING OVER ANOTHER THOUSAND. or 10-12 in your case.

Looked on boats.net i can get a yamaha 2 stroke 150 for $9000 and a 150 mercury verado $11,188. Has anybody ever put a Verado on their V20?

In 2004 I paid 11,500 for new Honda 150 installed, complete w/controls and SS prop...

I have a friend w/a 2006 Verado...FLAWLESS...HEAVY motor, though, so look closely at weight...

Are those numbers on the Etec installed?...

The reason the price sounds so high is because of the word "new."

I don't know if there are any deals like this around any more but I got a new leftover 2004 Yamaha 150 2 stroke in 2005 for $7300 installed. I already had controls and oil tank so I didn't have to incur the extra cost. It was a great deal even back then. I didn't have to pay sales tax either because I bought it from an out of state marine dealer who shipped to a local dealer. Bottom line is any new motor is going to be a ridiculous price, unfortunately.

I will probably try to find a used fuel injected outboard. I need something that will give me good mileage. What about an 86 150 Yamaha 25" shaft? I can build a jack plate. I forgot all about my 250 Sportsman. I might borrow one of its motors.

new motors are high, I just quoted a guy on a new F90 Yamaha at $7800(freakin deal on a new motor), plus roughly $1000 in controls, harness, gauges and key switch assembly. That should give you an idea on what they sell for. Those 2 stroke carb 150 Yamaha's are left over 07's(last year you could sell a carb 2 stroke), they start the warranty when they're sold, they were selling for $7500 a few years ago.
