Default Lakeland, FL Law Enforcement

Curiosity led me to look up Ridge Runner's hometown to get an idea of how far they'd be traveling...the following is how law enforcement oughtta be conducted more often...jmho...

Lakeland made national headlines on September 28, 2006 when Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Vernon "Matt" Williams and his K-9 partner, Diogi, were shot and killed after a routine traffic stop in the Wabash area of the town. The incident sparked outrage among the central Florida law enforcement community. More than 500 law officials came together in search of Angilo Freeland, the suspect wanted in connection with the murder. The next morning Freeland was found hiding under a fallen tree. Nine SWAT members fired 110 shots at Freeland, hitting him 68 times and killing him on the spot. "God will be his judge and jury now" said Sheriff Grady Judd,[17] adding "we ran out of bullets" on Oct 1, 2006 to the Orlando Sentinel when asked why the police had shot Freeland 68 times. Deputy Williams and Diogi were laid to rest on October 3, 2006 after a funeral that included a one-hour and 45 minute procession.

Yes sir, Colonel Grady Judd, Polk County Sheriff. The dreadlocked perpetrator ambushed the officer, took the officers weapon and shot him "Matt" execution style, killed his K9 officer "Diogi" and wounded another officer after a routine traffic stop and foot chase. The LEO's got a quick perimeter and waited until the next morning before sending the SWAT team shoulder to shoulder into the woods where the POS was hiding. The perp refused to drop his weapon so the SWAT team solved the problem.

The ACLU was all over the extreme use of force but that died off when they realized where they were (Polk County) and who they were trying to defend.

We have the highest number of idiots per capita than any other county IMO.

Last year, we made national news when a group of teenagers in Mulberry decided to video tape the beating of one of their classmates over something that was put on facebook. You should have heard the comments from the Colonel on that one.

Spare, I didn't know you were into antique planes too. I have met Kermit several times, nice guy. Very approachable for a milti-millionaire. Went there for the Mustangs and Mustangs car show/air show. We got the attractions down here.

My father is a member in the EAA, he's drug me to every airshow within 150 miles of Raliegh while I was growing up. I've allways been interested in planes, but you think boating is expensive, flying is exponitionally more expensive. I just like to look and admire. Got to hand it to Kermit Weeks, there are a lot of things a gozilionaire could spend his money on with no one else to enjoy. That museum is one of the best air museums I've ever been to.

He has as much room in the hanger next door to the museum where they do nothing but restore and refirbish airframes and power plants. The money it takes has to be unreal.
