Default Fishing rod holder inserts...

So I went down to the boat today and started to look around. Now of course it's hard to keep a boat looking perfect but it's not impossible....... Well ok, sometimes it can be difficult.

Something that I've been wanting to change is the rod holder inserts that are located in the port and starboard side gunnels. I took a quick measurement and now the hard part begins. Trying to find inserts that fit. Everywhere I looked (ebay, flounder pounder, and various other websites) I've noticed either the inserts are to big or way to small. A measurement of the inserts revealed I need an insert that is approximately 59" wide. Most that come close are 56" so that is not going to work. The only one that I can find that might work is 68" wide so I would have to do some cutting. I really didn't want to make the opening any bigger.

That being said I return to my trusty friends on this board for advise and wisdom. What do you recommend?

Btw... Boat is a 1990 18' center console.

Last but not least, I saw a very nice V20 on the Metedeconk River yesterday at about 2:30 pm. There was no name on the boat, it was an I/O, and had Red pinstripping. Just wondering if it belonged to a board member?

Hope all is well.

Hmmm... by fishing rod inserts I'm thinking that you mean the rod boxes that hold the rods? There's a guy on eBay that sells them.. look for threads in the search of this forums to find his company link.. also, do a search on rod boxes.. several people have made their own.. some of them are downright beautiful... Tsubaki comes to mind right away, but there are others. hope this helps

How about using the 56" rod boxes and then add another insert to the cutout area for a fire extinguisher or drink holder?
