I have 1978 V20, what is the shaft lenght of the engine, I think it is 20".

Measure straight down from the top of your transom where the engine sits to the edge of your keel. That distance is the size engine that you need. If your boat is stock and has not had additional height added to the transom then your boat takes a 20" engine. Hope this helps.

Yes, should all be original which it looks like it is it is a 20" shaft. In later years they eliminated that cut out in the transom and just took it straight across and those need a 25" shaft.
