Red face Overheating, kinked hose 74-165hp I/O

I just replaced my bellows, gimbal bearing and installed new shift cable on my 74 V20 (purchased all including an alignment/seal installing tool for just over $240.00.) The only part I didn't get was the 5/8 inch rubber cooling hose. I picked that up at the auto store (bulk heater hose).
Took the boat out. Nice and dry! New problem...overheating. Back on shore I noticed that the hose is kinked when turning left. I tried to several different lengths of hose, 13 inches is about right. Is there a special hose that I was supposed to install? One last question. The switch located in the top of the transom housing that controls the limit of the engine tilt when in the water is screwed. Can anyone suggest where can I locate this single switch?
Thanks all.

I can't remember the exact length, but its critical to get it right. I use teh hoses that coem with teh transom rebuild kits. make sure you use a high quality hose that has reinfiorcements in the hose walls to keep it from crimping. Check for a replacemnt hose at ebasicpower.com
