Back in the 80's OMC came out with some weird horse powers and yes 185 was one of them. They did not last long, I guess it didn't catch on?
I don't know much about them but I bet they are just a regular horse power motr with a few carb mods to change the HP.

IBoats have some info

The 185HP was a commercial engine which basically meant it was a de-tuned 200HP.

I owned a 86 185, however mine had the standard 185 cowling with no mention of it being a commercial outboard. It was the same color as as their typical outboard. Was a 175 offered in 86?? I do know they built a 155 commercial engine.
