I have a Uncle that just bought land in a gated com and will start building in 2 weeks right near Lake Norman

Whats the scoop on fishing that area??

I will have a free place to stay when ever I want. He will be there next summer part time and full time the next year.

Thanks

Blue can probably tell yoiu more than me. I've fished Lake Norman 3-4 times and had decent luck with freshwater of course. Bream, crappie, bass etc.

I heard tell some real nice bass & catfish have been caught out of there.

Cool MJ.

Lake norman is a big deep lake. The striper fishing is improving there but still its a quanity vs. quality striper lake for the most part. You catch the 5 - 8 lbers mostly. If I remember correctly they introduced threadfin shad there a few years ago and it is helping the fishery somewhat. There are blue catfish, spotted and largemouth bass, crappie and bream in addition to the stripers.

I always had fun when we fished there and we never got skunked in our 3 - 4 trips. We used rainbow trout for bait which you can buy at the local tackle shops. They are expensive but make great baits.

When I get my bait tank fixed up and a little more experience fishing with shad you'll have to come down and fish with us!

Hey Garage, that is funny as He11! We simultaneously posted and both of us have only fished LN 3 - 4 times! I caught my 1st striper there prolly 10 years ago!

We can catch all the bait we need in High Rock lake - big hickory shad - then haul arse down the interstate to Norman.

yep I saw that, it's been a while since I was there but what I remember it was very nice. Macojoe will need a green card to put in and fish there won't he!!

I haven't fished Norman...yet, but if you come down, I'll come up there and we'll give it a shot...specially if BR brings us some of those shad he mentioned...winter time is my favorite striper time down here...if you got time, wee'll sneak down to Hartwell and take a shot at some larger fish...16 lber recently and 23 lber couple of months ago...rare, but they get much larger...weighed one that was found still barely alive several years back...bottomed out a 55 lb scale and woulda kept goin' except for the pin...

Norman's about 90 miles NE of me...no promises on what we'll catch, but promise to give it my best shot...

Heck, just drive a little further and we'll hit badin. Good numbers of 10 - 15 lb fish in there.

If we fish Norman using your techniques I about guarantee success. I say that because if I could catch them 10 yrs ago in my piece of crap boat with no real bait tank, ANYBODY could!

What time we leavin?
