I run a 15 x 17 on my 150 but the first question that you might need to answer is:

What RPM are you at when you are at top speed?

From what I have read it is hard to know what prop to use unless you know what your engine needs to run smoothly.

Almost forgot -- Welcome aboard. The guys around here can answer many of the quesions that you might have.

If you're revvin' to 6Gs then it's definately the wrong prop...somebody w/more I/O experience will be along soon to steer ya on that

wish I could tell ya more about what prop...but generally to improve one end of the performance grade, you gotta give up a little on the other end..good luck w/it either way and keep us posted on what ya do w/the '78...sounds like a HOSS!!...

Pictures if ya can...

Nice man cave! You should have put "Caution: Naked V20" in your post. LOL!!

Looks like a great project you have going! A lot of people on here wouldn't mind following your progress on the restore - me included.

Sounds to me like you would need atleast a 19, maybe even a 21. I hate to say it but you may never really know until you try one out. You can sit here all day reading about it but until you get one on the boat you'll never really know.

Maybe you can find someone who is willing to loan you their's so you can see what a 19 or 21 will do for you.

Good luck.
