v20 in the sound off of Avon, NC?

Hey guys, We just got a 84 V20 Fisherman, and are considering taking it to the beach for our vacation. The house we are staying in is right on the sound with water access. It gets really shallow back there and I was wondering if we would run into any problems? Do you NC guys think it may be too shallow? Very new to boating..we've had a jet ski and jet boat for years, but this is our first "real" boat. :)
