1989 Center Console Lid removal??

This next fall I want to pull the lid off of my center console, the floor is soft on the stern side of the boat. so I want to fix it from underneath, and also I know I have a bad spot in the stringer in the front so, I would like to see the rest.
Would it be better to just cut the floor out vs. lifting off the lid?
If the lid what parts have to be cut to get it off, and where is the best place to attach straps to lift it off?
