Just a few short stripers dispite lots of marks in the early am.....
Cold water at 41-44 usually means the end of the season. Did see a whale and porposes together, but couldn't seen what they were feeding on. |

trolled Seaside park area for hours, nothing. Jigged on marks, nothing. I had a dozen green crabs so I dropped on the Colleen and caught a 14" and 16" tog right away then bergalls stole the rest of the baits. Pulled the SkunkBoat for the season this morning..

Skunk - suggestion: follow the party and charter boats.
These guys fish every day, and communicate together. Many times when deciding whether to fish north or south, it will pay to head in the same direction. Not all the time, but many times. Then when the party boats are set up, fish around them, with Stripers, sometimes the fish are close, spooked just a 1/4 mile away or so. With fluke, it can be quite helpful doing the same. I'm not one to fish with the fleets - I find my own spots, but I also realize these guys fished days before me and have an idea where the fish may be schooling up. I've trolled widely around party boats that were jggiing - and I'm hooking up while they are just picking a few at best. It can increase your percentages. |

Agree 100% with B. I used to drive 500 miles 1 way to striper fish for a weekend a couple times a year. I always did a ton of research beforehand but seeing which way the fleet was headed helped in most cases. Me and the wife went for anniversary once. Fleet headed north and me and the wife headed south. She caught the biggest ever on my boat at 30lbs & 40", all by our lonesome. No marks, nothing but handful of big blues and then WHAM.
