I believe the folks who have converted I/O or Seadrive V-20s to bracket just put them right on without any reinforcement...not sure if anyone has put a bracket on an outboard model.

Which one are you working with?

Bracket on a outboard model here. Reinforced transom with knees that extend up past the old 25" mounting height. Made it into a full transom while at it, lost the ability to self-bail with the additional weight of the bracket and the motor hanging from 30" offset. There are pros and cons to adding a bracket. Several others on here have them, maybe they will chime in.
