What ounce cloths or mats should I use to glass my caps on my boat? My cc has 10 inch caps that have built out of wood when it was converted from a steplift to a cc, how would you glass them in? Once again thanks guys for all the help in advance.

Got pictures? Are you encapsulating them in glass or are you glassing them directly to the hull?

1.5 CSM? 1708 Sounds a little heavy. CSM with a light woven?

I would say that would be acceptable. Maybe a layer of CSM , 6 - 8oz cloth. The liners on the Wellcrafts were not very thick. I know yours isn't a liner but 2 layers of CSM would encapsulate. The smoother you make it the less time you spend sanding and fairing. I have never worked with 1708 (only 1208, heavy tri-axial, CSM, 4oz hardware cloth and 24 oz woven roving) so how smooth is the 1708 after wetout ? I have put CSM over 1208 and woven roving when I knew I would have to grind it back significantly in order to make it straight.
