Nice Whaler Ridge. I used to work at a whaler dealership back in '01. That boat is far better than the 21 Outrage. My favorite was the 26 though.The 23 being a close second. Good luck with the sale. It looks super clean.

Thanks Capt. Pete. If it were a 26' I would be keeping it. I have many likes and dislikes. It has a lot of features and was very pricey when new. The buyer paid $69,000 at the boat show. Original asking price was $74,900, ouch! Not a good time to sell but I thought I would post it up and see if it gets any play. I have seen the same boat with twins sell for $34,000. Most of the singles are priced similar to this one.

If I remember right the 23 Outrage gives a very dry ride. And a very solid ride in a chop. As did the 26. The 21 in my opinion rode like a pile of meatloaf.

Ride is good. Very dry. It has the Accutrac hull with a very sharp entry at the bow. I believe it has 16 degrees of deadrise so at 23' it will still pound. I was in some nasty conditions on black Friday this year. Wind gusting to 35, no swells just nasty chop that started at 3 to 4 and ended up too rough to leave the helm. Waves were steady 5 to 6 and close with the wind causing the tops to break. Trolling was all I could muster when I got to my numbers. Aside from a little wind driven spray over the rail that the windshield caught, the ride was dry. Idling into the sea I watched the pulpit dip into the face of the waves and the horizon would disappear from time to time. I made my way to three rocks but never got a strike trolling. After one hour of battling an insufferable weedline and the conditions I decided to head to calm water. The boat will take more punishment than I am willing to live with. I put it on the first step and it took 2 hours to get back to sheltered waters 25 miles quartering. I have fished from this boat since it was new. Only once had I experienced conditions similar to these while in the keys. Both times dry but a little beat up. No other boats were out and I should have known better but I went anyway, at worst I burned some gas and gave her a good shake down. BTW I have never been on a dry boat. The wettest I have ever been was on a friends 30' Grady White Chase center console. He would drive the bow into a 4' ground swell at 30mph and it seemed that the entire wave would get up and slap you in the face. If my head wasn't hurting so bad I might have cared but after 3 hours I was honestly ready for the hill.

Up here where I fish, Raritan Bay, Sandy Hook area, we are pretty much gauranteed a wind against tide every afternoon and depending on the wind it will determine how bad the chop, wave set etc will be.
I have been on dozens of different boats out there and very few handle that well. You either go in a big boat and ride reasonably well and stay dry from the wind driven spray or you go in a smaller boat and you pick and putz your way very slowly where you need to go.
The sailboat guys love it, that is why they all leave the docks at 1pm or later.
i did ride in a 233 Formula CC that took that type of stuff very nicely and you would still get a little spray from the wind but you were able to maintain a decent slow speed and my bad neck was not hurting from the ride.
I would love to find a boat that was like that for a good price, something around 23 feet, 21-24 deadrise, in a CC. Maybe in my next life it will be a Contender 23.

I love the Contender, SeaVee and even the Grady in the 30' range. Been wet on all three. Build quality was top notch on all three. The Grady was fancy, the SeaVee and Contender are purpose built no frills fishing machines. I love the idea of ownership I just don't have the wallet. IMO the best boat ever is the 36' (model is irrelevant) that your best friend (prefferably female) just bought and insists that you to go along every outing for ballast/entertainment. ... My black friday trip was in the gulf of Mexico out of Suwanee, FL. No inlet thank heavens. Seas are very predictable here. The outing was a pick and putz. This Whaler has good freeboard but lacks wide open deck space. When it gets rough you have a lot of combing pads to lean on and the stainless steel toe rail comes in handy for gaffers. It is as capable of a 23' as I have seen and it comes packed full of features. If memory serves me the 24' and 26' versions of this boat have all the added footage in front of the console. The 26' has seating on each side with a walkway in the middle. The 24' is nearly identical to the 23'. The Whaler Purist frown on this model as it does not resemble the old originals. AND They hate the oval vent window on the port side of the console. They claim it looks like something off a Sea Ray. I don't have the heart to tell them how much better this model is in ride quality over the old Outrage.
One gripe I have that all v-20 owners would appreciate is the space they took away from the cockpit with the Euro styled transom. Just like Wellcraft did when they went away from the v-20. It makes the last 2' of boat a swim platform.
