Default fuel tank help

thanks to everyone here for all you advice on my boat...i have yet another question...I have a wellcraft v20 with a built in fuel tank. I have been told that the tank is no good anymore..i want to put portable tanks topside for the outboard..could i put one just inside the cabin where there is a stepdown with a plywood cover..and maybe a small one in the stern..has anyone ever kept a tank toward the front of the boat vs two in the stern..tks

first whats wrong with the tank?? When i bought my boat they told me the tank did not work and it was just the vent, I know of another that was the same.
If it is leaking have a pressure test done to see if it really is? Might just be bad hose or something?

After you have found out what is wrong if anything then you can decide what to do.

I would never add a open tank in the cuddy area for safety reasons!!

You could pull the old tank and add a cheap plastic tank till you have the cash for a new one, or you can do like reel and add them under the seats? But there is a better option then in the cabin!

I agree w/all MJ said...who told you you have a bad tank?...check it out for yourself...some of the V-20s have belly-tanks midship about where mine are, but up in the cuddy is TOO far...what year your V?...

If you decide to go the same route as me after you've verified your tank to be bad, let me know and I'll post how I did it...it's worked well for 10 years now...
