| Who has a good source for Flares?

Hi folks, I went to mail order some flares and a whistle from West Marine. Total: about thirty bucks. Shipping: Another Thirty Bucks. Is this because the goods are explosive, or because WM wanted to?

No, it's not just WM. You are paying a HAZMAT fee for the shipping. You're better off to buy them in person rather than mail order.

You can purchase flares at Cabela's in East Hartford. Make sure you check the expiration date on the packages. When I was there last week I noticed some packs were almost ready to expire and some had an expiration date good until 2012.

| Thanks!

The place is new enough that I don't think about it. But I'll get there soon; I hear it's an experience, and to only bring what you plan to spend. Thanks for the tip! Dave
