My motor is an 88' 175 johnson. I had the carbs completely redone about a year and a half ago when I bought the boat - new plugs also. Took her out the other day and dealt with rough idiling and cutting out under load. Plugs are ok. Don't look new out the box but aren't fouled up. I'm contemplating pulling the carbs off and giving them a simple cleaning. I haven't run any seafoam through the motor since I've had her either. I don't know if carbon buildup is an issue with that motor although I did do a lot of idling last year. Any particular issues with these carbs I need to look out for? I've done this on my 115 evinrudes from years past so I'm pretty confident I won't screw it up to bad. Any feedback or pics you've got would be appreciated.
Thanks, Maury

Every year I have owned mine, the dirt and buid up from teh gas tank would clog
my filter, small in line. It would even cut out the motor. Last year I installed a RACOR water and dirt filter that I got on e-bay for a song, no more rough running or cut -out.
