Hey guys,
I got a friend who is trying to buy a pontoon boat . The seller states it has a 2003 115 hp Johnson 4 stroke. The boat has been wrapped for the last 3 years. I dont know much about different outboard manufacturers but we both believe that Johnson doesnt make 4 strokes that large anymore and one should stay clear from the Ficht era engines which I think was 1999 or so? Anyway its a good deal but he is leary about the power on it. Anybody got any pros or cons about the engine

those johnsons were made by suuki for EJ. the fichts actually started in 97 and have evolved into the e-tec along the way. those 115s werent bad.

They are made by suzuki as cterrebonne said and I haven't heard a single bad thing about a suzuki four stroke yet. Only thing with the boat sitting that long is I would check the waterpump as it might be dried out or deformed.
