You can find a seastar helm and cylinder for cheap on ebay. $350 - $500. Stay away from baystar. Hynautic cylinders with mate up with the seastar helm and save you some $$$. They're top quality cylinders (teleflex bought them out a while back).

Can you guys tell me if the NFB steering system works fine for the V with a 150, instead of going the hydraulics. Trying to decide the same thing for mine.
Is it worth the price difference? Is it easier to install?

willy, i installed the NFB system on my V w/ 150 merc and love it. it feels a little stiffer than the reg system & has a little bit of play when you turn the wheel before the cable reacts, but i got used to it real quick. i like the fact the wheel stays where you leave it. i wanted hyd, but could not justify the expense at the time and compromised with nfb. now that just got moved way down the list .
