Default NE1 replaced their original OMC tach?

Santa bought me some new teleflex gauges and I'm looking for the wiring diagram for the original tach. The new tach has a seperate post for each wire but the original has all the wires going in a single slot.

Thanks,
Maury

Man, I gotta study my "texting" lingo. For the life of me I couldn't figure out NE1. North East One? Something to do with the Patriots? Then the lightbulb turned on.

As for wireing, I always cut the blue wire.

if you have a 96 and later omc/brp that had a oem tach then it would have had the big rectangle plug going into it. your new teleflex does not have that same plug connection but its no big deal. only thing you have to do is find the wires that leave the big plug on the wiring harness and then start looking for a black, gray and purple wire. you then take the purple to the 12v+ the black to the 12v- and the gray to the signal pole on the tach the tach may also need to be set to either 6p or 12c. also you will need a sys check guage if it is a 96 and newer model.

thanks terrebonne,,

Motor is an 87' 175 Johnson. No rectangular plug. The wires go inside the tach. I gotta ask, with that name, are you in Louisiana?

Sorry, I see your location now. I'm in Baton Rouge. I head to Thibodaux often to the LDNR office on Tiger Dr.
