Default Cutting the floor?

I don't think I'm going to be able to replace the stringers through the fuel tank compartment on my 79 v20 as I had originally planned. I'm now contemplating on cutting the floor to gain full access to the stringers. I was planning on cutting the sides of the liner at about where the rod boxes start and lifting the floor out in one piece so that the floor will go back in after I replace / repair the stringers. What do you guys think of this idea? Will it work?

It'll probably work that way...get the tank out FIRST...safer that way, plus it'll give you access to sides of the stringers...

Default Re: Cutting the floor?

Why cut the liner to remove the deck? *To me, the deck would be easier to patch than the sides. *It's really not as bad as you think. *My deck was soft from the cabin to the fishbox(water got in through the seat mounts) *I took a skill saw and cut out the deck that was bad. *I left about 2" where the deck meets the sides. When I went to replace the old wood, I bonded a strip under the edge of the hole around the opening, and then used the old piece as a template, and just dropped the new in. *The hardest part is making the first cut, after that you have to fix it. *
