Default Marine Foam ??

The big late night question here that is spinning around in my head. While do my rewiring job and running some wire down along the gunnels, I noticed that I was able to stick my fingers down between the the gunnel and floors in a few spots. I wanted to shoot in some spray foam to fill any gaps that I dont see under the floor and maybe run some along the floor line of teh gunnels for extra buoyance. Is there a speacial type of foam I can by in a spray can with the old plastic tube, you know, like liqued nails you use in a house ???
Seens pics of guys installing new fuel tanks, what did ya all use ??
Is liquid nails suitable or will water absob into it and make it heavy. Trying to stay away from the two part stuff.
Thanks,
Mike.

Hammer, liquid nails is a construction ADHEASIVE and has no foaming qualities I know of...the ''two-part'' stuff is a CLOSED-CELL FOAM, which is what you wanna use in a marine application...careful how much you use, it expands and WILL crack fiberglass when it does... :o...

Definately research that subject. It can be bad to use foam around the tank, I believe...something about moisture.

You should browse the classic mako and seacraft sites, tons of great info on those sites. Bigshrimpin on this site is also very knowledgeable about rebuilds too. Some people are even against on using foam...it can cause blistering depending on where you put it due to limiting ventilation and retaining mositure.

http://www.uscomposites.com/foam.html

Polyurathane Foam.
4 lbs density is what you want. 2lb will absorb water after a while.

I am confused?? Are these holes?? the floors are sealed right to the side of the boat, if you have holes you going to be in big trouble!!

No holes, but a few gaps. With the side gunnel fish rod holders out, I can slide my fingers below the floor deck between the floor and the old foam. Figure I would shoot some foam in to fill any gaps.

Wait . . . take some pics and show us what you want to do? after reading this post again I'm not sure that you'll want foam for this job.
