Default New Jersey Blue fishin'

Decided to take the day off of work and take the family fishing. Being that the two kids were with us its hard keep bait in the water trying to keep everybody happy and out of trouble. So I decided the easiest thing for ME is to do some trolling for Blue fish. Launched at Atlantic Highlands and beat feet to the Shrewsbury rocks. Put out a couple of Mann's Stretch 25's and proceeded to troll up some big 'ol blue fish over the course of the day. It was the first experience for my wife reeling in big blue's she nearly had a heart attack I think. The only bad thing is the two little one could do nothing but watch and take a few cranks on the reel. But they seemed to enjoy watching us have fun!

Probably brought 8-10 to the boat and dropped a half dozen more along the way. Just a good fun fishin day ...and the seas were FLAT which was a true bonus.

RW Great pics ... as usual you're getting everyone jealous. Just as a point of interest, the last two pics... there's some great fluke fishing right under your boat.. That's one of my favorite spots. Thanks for the pics :)

That is funny RW, I was out there with my CEO and two Super Models yesterday afternoon too. Went out for an afternoon cruise, they do not get into fishing much but we wet a line looking for Fluke, nada at the time but we had no real drift tide and wind wise.
How big were the Blues, any big boys in yet?

I am not familiar with this area and am curious as to why the row of houses in two of the pix all look the same.

Nipper, those are old Army barracks of Fort Hancock, there are also old gun batteries and assorted other old military installation on Sandy hook as it pretty much is at the entrance to NY Harbor.
Unfortunately you are not allowed to land a boat there so the only times I have explored it are by car.

I was keeping my eye out for a blue Hydra-sport ....but you know they are not as easy to spot as a V-20

We hit the water about 11:00 and were back at the ramp about 6:00...probably past you somewhere along the way.

The blue fish were definitely in the "jumbo" category, really fun to reel in..... Even the party boats from Point Pleasant were up there workin' em.

Destroyer, I know there must be fluke in that spot by the boats I see in there on the weekends but I have never wet a line right there.
