Default The big splash!

I dropped the BassOMaticII in the water yesterday for it's maiden voyage. First time I have launched a boat in 22 years. Everything went well for the first time out. I even remembered the plug!
This was just a checkout ride to see how the new 5.7 purrs and check for any leaks. The engine runs strong and smooth. Steering is good at speed but very pitchy at idle. I have heard that complaint with V20 I/Os before. I'll have to check the archives.
I have to admit that the norton's were sucked up high and tight from the time I backed the trailer in until I hauled it back out again. They are hard to snag when tucked away. I'll have much more fun the next time out.
There is still some more detail work and some fine tuning of the engine to be done but the BassOMatic II is on the water! Can't wait until the next time.

Just for the record.

Wonder if No Feedback steering cable would take the "pitchy" outta an I/O...sure works good on OBs... :D...

Thanks RAP for the no feedback suggestion.
The steering is OMC power assist. It is what came with the boat. The system pressure tested OK and the gear box was in good shape so I decided to use it. The alternatives were quite expensive compared to a couple of new hoses for the power assist. I am going to bleed the system to see if impingement is the problem.
There are quite a few details like that to take care of before the next launch.
