Default Skools, OFF the trailer...

Looks like I'll be usin' your method to take 'er off the trailer soon...found a rusted SPLIT along top of rear axle and it ain't gonna get better by itself...can't decide to get new axles or fill/drain axles w/oil(to negate internal rust) and weld angle end to end across top where split (split doesn't go end to end, but may as well add angle that way)...whatever I do to the one that's split, I'll do to the other as it's got a rust stain along the top in the same area...Any thoughts?... ;D...

i had an axle crack on a single axle trailer and it was bowing the wrong direction due to weight so i jacked up the trailer by the axle in the center to bow the axle back and welded a piece of angle across the top as you said and it fixed both it held the axle straight once weight was back and it fixed the crack. it has been fine fior the last 3 yrs so far no issues at all it's tons stronger now and it wears tire a ton less.

hey do you have a tree you can back the boat up to ?if so tie a rope thru the transom eye on one side then around the tree to the other transom eye. now let out enough wench cable to keep the boat from falling off the trailer. then just drive the truck forward until the boat is about 4 ft off the trailer then block the transom. then drive about 8 to 10 ft more then put a jack under the keel and jack the boat up off the trailer and now drive out from under the boat then lower the bow down on blocks and your done.
