Default Stamas had a V-21 in 1974?

I didn't know this, but ran across the vintage ad on e-Bay. It caught my eye - at first I thought it was a wellcraft! Anyway, check it out. They skimped on the cockpit space though IMO with that splashwell setup. Also I got a chuckle out of the guy with the SCUBA getup on. I mean, without a swimstep or some visable boarding ladder he's screwed when it comes time to get back in!!

It was a close design but not quite the same. Some subtle differences.

I know a few of you guys have mentioned it, But I never seen a V-20 with dual engines. Wouldnt it be to tight ??
Or is it time for a bracket when going with two motors.

Blue-Runner,
checked out your gallery. Confused :P he pictures, are they of teh same boat ??
What ya do with the Johnson after adding the Yammie.
Question, will a 20" shaft engine fit on a V-20. I have a 25" shaft, guy on the site is selling an Evinrude, but has 20" shaft.

Hammer, two different boats are in my gallery. One is the '73. There are a couple before pix that show it with twin Johnson 140hp motors. Previous owner added the twins and she was never splashed (thank goodness).

I bought it and removed the 2 25" johnsons, bought a fixed jackplate and put a single Johnson 140 on. That worked for a short while until I found out the transom on the '73 had some shoddy work done on it prior to my owning it so I pulled the motor and had the transom fixed. At that point I was going to repower with a new motor when suddenly the 1994 V-21 came up for sale on this board/eBay and I finagled a deal with the owner that neither of us could refuse. I took the 1994 yamaha 150 off, which came on the boat, and repowered the 94 V-21 with a brand new Yamaha 150 (04 model).

I need two galleries really but haven't had the time to mess with it.

To answer your questions, Skools (member here) bought my twin 140 Johnsons.

About the 20" motor. If you have a 25" transom, get a 25" motor. Its 5" higher from taking on water. Everyone would agree, the higher the better. Most on here prefer a full transom, while a 20" on a V20 is nothing to snuff your nose at either if you're a little more careful.

You'd have to do something crazy to your transom to add a 20", like cut it or add a bracket or jackplate or something.

I liked the long-shaft/jackplate setup on the Mako that was posted recently...but I don't see it happenin' short-shaft on a taller transom...I'd keep lookin' ;)...That'd be kinda like tryin' to get a stick of soft butter up a wild-cat's a$$... :o...

When my wife and I were in Puerto Rico in December I saw several interesting boats, including a few that looked just like that Stamas above, and a few Mako's too, what made them interesting to me at least was the fact that they were all running two motors, two smaller motors like two 50's or two 75's etc. just like the Stamas in the photo above. When I talked with the local fellow there about the fishing I asked him about the motor set up and he acted like why would you set up a boat any other way. He said that they are fishing by themselves a lot and they have a lot of reefs and rocks they move around inshore and can't be out there with just one engine, too dangerous.
I wonder, if you had two 75's that would have to perform better than a single 150 right? I mean you have two props biting in the water , like extra torque being applied to the pushing of the hull right?

I was running a Nautica (RIB) at work today and it had 2 merc 90s on it and I was admiring the set up and wondering how I could get them home

That should have a better performance ratio right, two 90's as opposed to a (180) hp single engine
