Default Beaufort NC offshore Dec 22

Fishing is slowing down as the water cools but if you run out 30 miles or so the King bite is still very good but no Wahoo or Mahi. 4 of us caught 11 Kings which ran from 29 down to 16 pounds on yellow with silver flash Huntington drone spoons along with 2 big amberjacks. Lots of big New England based Commercial lobster type boats ( I like Lobster Boats) trolling for tuna 11 miles out which are running several hundred pounds but you need a federal permit for them...Its that time of the year when the Jap sushi buyers are in town from Tokyo fighting over prices and taking pictures of everything including each other . One guy sold a big tuna for over $5k...I went out yesterday inshore and tried to troll up some albies but they are pretty much gone and the big 4 to 5lb sea bass which saved the day many times this summer have moved off the wrecks to deeper water. So far a few nice stripers have been caught on Manns stretch 25's in baby dolphin and red and white color in the shoal area but nothing to write home about but the boys in neighboring Virginia Beach are killing them from 20 to 50lbs..Hopefully by the time they get here I will be tired of shooting sea ducks....
