I use oven cleaner on my truck windshield to remove the mill scale I get at work, it will probably take water spots off. Just don't let it get on any painted areas.

Steel wool soap pad - and elbow grease .
Used on my previous boat and did the trick - no scratching |

I’ve got plenty on mine. It was used in the ocean off California for years. I thought it was etching since nothing I tried did any good but you’ve got me thinking it’s probably mineral deposits from the sea water. Vinigar is good on minerals and the steel wool would be good for cutting/scraping them off when softened. I’m going to try that.

Tried everything before steel wool soap pad - then attacked a corner and found it didn’t scratch.
The water spots should come off |

Bgreene nailed it. The water by us is very hard. Any water that drys on a surface leaves a deposit of various minerals. White vinegar and Steel wool (The big curly kind, not the type that has soap in it) removes it. On softer surfaces use the 3M Scotchbrite type of pad so you don't scratch the surface. Vinegar is a mild acid, let it sit on the surface and do it's job before you start scrubbing. There's a reason that people clean their coffee pots, etc, using vinegar.

I used the standard steel wool soap pad - nothing else.

It's really the vinegar that's doing the job, but to each their own. Both will work nicely.
