Morning all , my question is this. I am thinking of removing the 60 gallons of 92 octane Ring free treated fuel from my boats gas tank. I'd like to put the fuel in my 1500 Dodge Ram 4.7 engine. Is this ok ??? I took the boat out for the first time this week and it didn't go very well on my body , with every bump and wake it just felt like i was being hit with a hammer in my neck and shoulders,and now I'm going to have back surgery this winter and it's possible that I won't be putting the Deplorables in the water next spring either which will then make the fuel in my tank 2 years old and I absolutely want to avoid that obviously!

I know guys that run it in 4 strokes for carbon build up so I can’t imagine it would hurt anything. Many people claim it’s the same as Seafoam just more expensive.

Do it John. I regularly drain and run any gas left in my tanks in my Dodge Durango 5.7 Hemi at the end of the season, then fill my tanks with treated gas, I usually treat with Seafoam and have never had any problems. Sorry for your back problems. DO you have trim tabs on your boat? If not you might want to consider them... they really do smooth out the ride

Gotcha Paul, no matter what hear or read I always just check with you guys before making any stupid moves, I want to hear from the people with practical experience , and I have seriously considered trim tabs, but before I do that I want to be reasonable certain I'm actually going to be able to use the boat in the next year or two,

You don t mention if it is ethanol free or not. Phase separation is a problem with ethanol gas. I would also run it through a Baja filter if possible, just to make sure your not introducing any contaminants into your truck. It s just a filter with a fine mesh screen and a reservoir to capture any water.
I had 40 gallons of gas in cans and 60 in the V when the storm hit. I used all i had in cans and got into the boat gas for about 30 gallons befor the power came back on. I used about 8 gallons a day for about 15 hours of run time. |

If you have a water separating filter on your boat, pump the fuel out thru the water sep filter. Ring free is techron additive, if you have any Texaco stations or Chevron stations near by, its the additive they charge you extra for at the pump.

Like any fuel issue, its that last .1% thats left in the bowl thats the killer. With newer EFI systems the gas is supposedly not exposed to air and will last longer, but it too will eventually turn to gum.
If its ethanol free gas you may get 2+ years out of it. But sometimes time has a way of creeping up and then you ask yourself 'How many YEARS ago did I put this fuel in?" If you ask yourself this question, its probably too late. As an absolute minimum take a pc of masking tape and at the fuel filler label the date of the gas. Since you are experiencing a health issue, its quite possible that boat could be sitting for a long time. I'd play it safe an go the whole 9 yds on 'winter-izing' the thing |
