I have a V-20 Fisherman in Port Aransas. My honest mechanic says the 5th and 6th cylinders have low compression and the original 200 Seahorse is not worth repairing. Hull is in good condition, one forward hatch is soft and the port side near the center console mildly soft. New gas tank in 2012 installed.
Thoughts? Will post some pics soon. Last edited by pshea69; 05-17-2017 at 12:06 PM. |

Definitely worth a repower. Rebuilding the old seahorse may not be worth the effort. Find you a nice used motor for a couple grand and run it. Maybe spend a little more and find a used DF140. And yes we need some pics.

X2. What 3 squids said. the soft hatch is not really a problem. The soft floor can be a problem...depending on how extensive the damage is underneath. I'd get a borescope camera to look the deck (about $10 on eBay) and try to see what' wrong before I pulled anything apart.

Fix her, soft hatch no big deal, soft floor--be careful you don't bite off more than you can chew.
Hang a decent used engine.
