Default Leaking float bowels

Does anyone out there have a good solution for this? I have a 1994 175 ocean runner. Once again my carb float bowls are leaking. We all know (johnson guys) this is a problem with these engines.they get hot and then wrap and wont seal thus allowing them to seap fuel or leak. I had all 6 replaced awhile back at the cost of over 600.00!!!!! I bet theres not 50 hrs on them. I just cant afford to do this every year or every yeay and a half.i talked to brg and they said yes this was quite common.they said you could get a piece of plate glass and a sheet of emory cloth and block then down.well thats great but its a crap shoot. Its the labor on this job to take them off sand or block them down reinstall and hope for the best. The float bowels are not that much i think the last ones were about 26.00 or so.i want to get this fixed as its driving me nuts. I would be willing to travel here in nc or sc if i can get this fixed at a reasonable cost!!!!!also now in the process of painting motor hood, lower skirts and foot and i dont want fuel leaking all over the new paint. Hope someone can help!! Thanks

it may be more than just the float bowls. I've sanded them down before with mixed results. When you reassemble them, it helps to use an inch pound screwdriver to evenly torque them. I've had so many problems with the plastic carbs that I will not offer any warranty on them after rebuilding.BTW, you can still get the float bowls, but the carb bodies are NLA, I did find a set a while back, they were $750 per side

If you want to double your troubles, I've got a 1995 150 Johnson Ocean Runner I'm gonna be pulling off a boat in the not too distant future. Cranked and ran when I picked the boat up about a month ago or so. Don't know anything else about it. Thanks to our wonderful government the non vented portable fuel tank the previous owner had hooked to it forced fuel through the carbs and it leaked out all around the lower cowlings staining the midsection. Might be good to swap or use for parts, part out the rest.
