Default another west coast trip in the books

Made it home from my annual trip to Prince Rupert BC last night. We put a hurting on the Spring salmon lots of them and big ones. the Coho were hard to find this year but when we did we got our limit of 4 per person in a half hour with 3 of us on Dads boat. I got The biggest halibut and salmon my dad had the big ling award lol. We had ok weather one day was perfect the rest at least we got out. Had a pod of dolphins come and swim around the boat for 20 minutes that was pretty neat and man can they move fast tried to feed them a herring from the bait box but thy wert buying it at all just wanted to play around the boat. I caught a 35Lb White Spring salmon it pulled so hard and fast when it took off after I hooked it I thought I had kelp on not a fish. we were in a big tide and some wind that fish spooled me in about 40 seconds. I was yelling at dad to back down on it so I could get my line back from the kelp at least. Dad and Brett were laughing at me then said were in 200 feet of water when you hooked that fish its not kelp dumb ***. It turned out to be a beautiful fish and one of the best fights of my salt water career.

Dolphins playing

Trolling for salmon

FISH ON!!!

65Lb halibut

45Lb ling Cod

30Lb Spring Salmon

35Lb White Spring

just about a 40Lb Spring and the only male we caught on the trip

There's a trip I wish I could afford... I do go to Lake Gananoque Ontario every June for Northern.

That ling looks like a skinny grouper. Probably fish them the same way too. Big hook, big sinker, big chunk of baitfish and drop to the bottom.

the Halibut fishing was great as usual that nice one I caught pulled pretty good for his size.
As for the lings Spoggy you hit the nail right on the head big ugly hook down deep jig lots but we don't bother with bait for them they are a very aggressive striking fish. I think they will strike a hook just on territorial instinct. They pull a guys arms pretty good as well.
the trip was cheep in trip terms it cost the three of us about 1000$ each for a week on the coast. That covered gas for the boat, hotel, food and diesel for the truck not to bad really.(O yea and Beer!)
