Default 1995 SEADOO 650 gtx

Just lined up a roof for one of my best friends dad. we used one of my old roofing subs to do the job and I saved him a bunch of money . So in return he gave me a jetski he bought brand new in 95. It has been sitting for almost 7 years and he gave it to me for helping him get his roof project together. Anybody on here a jet ski guy that can tell me if these skis are worth a crap? so far I have bought a new battery, drained all gas and oil out of tanks, pulled gas lines off of carbs and blew air thru fuel lines removing old gas, ran a compression check and both cylinders are at 150psi with a cold motor, shot a small dab of eyther/wd40 mix and she fired right up with new plugs. should I pull and clean the carbs? anything else I should worry about before I put fresh gas to her?

If it has been sitting that long, I would pull both plugs out and put about 2 ounces of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder and let it sit overnight before you run it for long. And when you do get it running add some sea foam to the fuel to help break any hardened carbon buildup loose. Also you may want to pull the water lines to the engine off and make sure there is no mud or debris in the cooling hoses and circuits.

You should only have one carb and they are really easy to work on but they have a small screen inside them that will collect gunk and not allow fuel to get where it needs to if they sit up for a while. Easy fix with carb cleaner and compressed air.

You can probably keep the oil injection if it has it. I would also check the carbon seal, which is the seal that keeps the water from coming in from the drive shaft. Check it for cracks. Also it might need a new wear ring, but you will be able to tell if it does when you launch it and try to run it.

www.sbtontheweb.com is the spot to go for aftermarket waverunner parts.

Those engine's are pretty solid, I ran the hell out of a '97 718cc engine. it sunked a few times and just kept on going.

simple is not the word!!!! this thing is a cake walk. after doing alot of research online Ive learned alot!!! have the venturi valve is off and jetpump so I can replace impeller boot, orings and neoprene seals and jet pump oil. have ordered new steering cable and choke cable. removed exaust so I could remove starter and build new negative and positive battery cables. have ordered oem mikuni rebuild kits for the 2 carbs. have also bought 20' of new 1/4 inch fuel lines. cleaned fuel selector switch. ordered a oil delete plate(kit) to covert it to pre mix fuel. the wear ring looks like its brand new so it good to go. anything else I can do for preventative maintenence?

Thanks Blake!!! you guys should see this ski in tip top shape in about a week.

Dayum bro....sounds like you've become an overnight jetski tech sensation! I had a couple in my younger days. My last one was a 1994 Polaris. Fun times....you will have. Pics!
