unpleasantness at the boat ramp...........
so my 11 year old and I were at the ramp after some yak fishing. we have a double wide ramp with dock on one side. I always use the side without the dock so as not to be in anybodys way.
don't know if you guys are into it but there is a huge offshore boat race off our beach this weekend. so our kayaks are tied to the ramp and my truck is at the top of the ramp where we will carry the yaks and place them on top of the truck. so we're there getting ready and one of these racing boats pulls in to the dock side of the ramp and as we're unloading stuff from the yaks to the truck one of the crew says to me "you need to move your truck so we can get the trailer in here". I politely reply "i'll be two minutes and i'll get out of your way". the guy looks at me and says "NOW"! I said "what"? he goes "NOW"! so I walk over and quietly, so my boy doesn't hear us, said "i'm going to give you some valuable advice, so listen carefully"..... my dad always told me you get more flies with sugar then you do with sh!t". also, you don't know me but those who do, know what I am capable of so i'm going to politely and quietly tell you once and only once..... speak to me with respect or this will end very, very badly for both of us". with that the guy goes and tells a couple of his other crew members, they all look over at me and I guess they just decided I was not one to be messed with. a few facts about me that you guys don't know. i'm 5'10" and weigh 275 lbs. i'm a former new York state champion wrestler and qualified for the Olympics. I am a former new York daily news golden gloves heavyweight boxer, a former college football player and I've had many, many street fights. not saying this to toot my own horn but you never know who you're talking to. I would never speak to anybody like that, let alone a complete stranger. I've never trailered a boat and maybe I don't know propper ramp etiquete but this didn't seem like it to me.

Good for you. Nothing worse than running into a Turd at the boat ramp. They were probably in a panic, late to the party, and some folks don't react well to crisis. I give most folks a wide berth, not much of a street fighter. The fact that you were there first and they need to wait their turn does come to mind, I would argue that point but I ain't going to jail over it. No matter how mouthy they got. I would go about the business of the day and then politely ask them if they knew what the letters FO represented..
I suspect that at least some of those nice folks are members on S&F,OSO, and THT. It would be interesting to know who they are.

I have always waited for my turn at the boat ramp. When boating I normally have all day and rushing makes you make mistakes....
Out on the water yesterday I had a bass boat pass me, he slowed down to yell at me to move over,,, LOL. Some people just are not boaters.
