After much work, I decided to take the V for its first ocean run of the year.
To date, I have ran my V in the river but did not have to contend with chop or any sea conditions. On Sunday morning, I ran my V about seven miles out for some wreck fishing out of Shark River inlet, Belmar, NJ. The morning had some chop and the V ate it up. I had to remind myself I was in a twenty footer! I did have a lot of weight in the cabin - about 150lbs form tools to an old life raft so I was able to keep the bow cutting into the waves. I don't have trim tabs yet (will be installed later this week) and I did not pound once. The only thing I can compare this ride to is a larger Mako but the fuel economy was terrible. I never rode in a Seacraft or some of the other famous riding hulls. Also - very stable while fishing the wreck on the hook. And, we caught fish! Great day... |
