Forgive me for asking a silly question as I am new here and to boating. I recently purchased a 1982 Wellcraft Suncruiser 255. She has a Mercruser 350, I can't seem to find any information on the web about this boat. Does anyone know how far I can cruse on a tank of gas and what the top end on this boat will be. Thanks.

Well its a 4500 pound boat with a 350 which is 240 hp,and holds 100 gal of gas, 20 of water, I would say it gets up and goes but not a speed demon, but a nice comfortable ride. Has a nice V in front to cut the waves, don't know the true exact but guess its a 20* at the transom. Trim tabs if does not have them would be a great addition for the ride!
Good Luck and enjoy!! http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/...can0024_Medium

look at the propeller, it should have a size stamped on it, it will have a number followed by the letter P, that's the pitch of the prop. as a general rule, you can determine rough top speed by the pitch and gear ratio of your drive. The drive should be a 1.5 to 1 ratio. A 19 pitch prop would put you in the high 40's, 17 pitch in the high 30's/ low 40's, 15 pitch in the low 30's. These are just aprox speeds

thanks all, There will most likley be a lot of question as I plan on restoring her from skeg to mast. She is in rough condition but her bones are solid and I can't wait to giver her a water test. It sits in my back yard, covered in snow calling out to me to giver her a ride...
