Looks like a lot of the hardware and various doors and rod boxes have been stripped? WTF were those Tracker motors? How fast can I expect to go with a 40HP on the back? Is that an old Bayliner trailer under it?
Seriously, I'm looking for a bay/lake boat project and a Wellcraft 18 catches my fancy, but what do you think of this package? Linky Thingy http://worcester.craigslist.org/boa/3368531280.html Last edited by Monkey Butler; 11-27-2012 at 12:17 AM. |

10-12Mph with the 40. Rod boxes were probably junk. The 18 Fisherman is a tank. Weighs as much as a V20 almost. Go into the General section in the thread "shaft length on 18 Fisherman" I have pics of the stringer layout in there. I would think that trailer might be at the edge on weight rating. As for the motor, a 125/135 V4 is the ticket.

if the transom and floor are solid, offer him $750 and tell him he can keep the motor. I seriously doubt any one is looking to buy a boat in the next month so i don't think he's going to be getting any calls anytime soon. Start looking for another trailer. V4 Johnrude will be the cheapest way to get it going, I'd rather have a 135/150 2.0L mercury v6 on it. If the motor it worth a crap(its a 2 cylinder Johnrude with tracker stickers), offer him $1000. You may be able to trade that 40 to some one for a 90/115

Jason, I saw your post, good info there.
Spare, I already have him down to $650 for everything just over the phone. It looks like all the rod holders have been stripped along with the rod boxes. At least the bow rail an console are there. Who knows what else? I'm guessing from the brown juice coming out of the screw holes in the transom that it is shot. I'd be ditching the motor for sure. I'll go take a look at it this weekend and if it's not too hacked up I'll haggle with him to see how low he will go. Is that an arm or a leg sticking out from under the blue tarp. If so do you think it would be fair to ask him to dispose of the body himself? Thanks guys. |

Hard to go wrong at 650 or less but you haggled on "for everything" so the body is yours too.

Smoke has a point. Besides the sooner you get rid if it the less it will stink.
If you can get it for $650 I think you are doing good. I paid $250 for mine, with no motor, no trailer, bow rails hacked up, cap hacked up, rotted stringers, holey fuel tank, no console grab rail, but It did have a new 3 layer transom 2 1/4" thick. A little work on the Tracker and you might be able to recover some money on it.

LMAO, cant believe someone put a 40 on one!
As said before they are heavy..thats one reason i LOVE mine. Ive got buddys with 20-22' bay boats (Blazer Bays, Makos, etc) and they will NOT take the water my 18 will. I have been in some bad stuff in it in my younger, dumber days and she always got me home no problem.
