thanks again Ferm I can always rely on you checked them all out .What I need is 4 connecting rods they are as 1 piece or a set of 8 .The problem is Eagle are not making these rods for the moment so im stuck . Looks like I may have dig deeper to buy a set of 8 . I really don't want to use the stock rods on my engine as it will be making more touque and I don't want them breaking . Where I plan to go fishing 90min trip one way and ill be holding the engine at 5500 rpm so I want to avoid and weak points on the engine as there little but no hope find a donor engine here . The cost of doing my rods is around 200 with shot penning - I have emailed Eagle direct and there going to see if the can make a set of 4 that the weights are with in 5 grams .Been doing a lot of research on the net on 460 hp and there are claims that it easy to get 500hp from a 460 with cast heads ; Well there might be a chance I can sell of the other extra 4 connecting rods if I can find someone stupid enough to do what im doing LOL

Ferm, the last few things I got from Summit were within a couple dollars of Jegs, and Jegs web site sucks, Summits site is one of ht easiest places to look up parts. I'll find what I want on Summit, then check the part number elsewhere to see if I can beat it. KMJ has had some real good deals lately. I've got a set of their rods in my 383 for the buggy

AUsie said 500 from a 460, so I think he's thinking 250 hp from the 3.7. personally I think you're over doing it. 4bbl carb, altenator conversion, better valve train, reground cam, aftermarket head, pertronix ignition, and a good solid bottom end should be good for around 200-225 hp easily. Mercruiser had the engine rated at 190 at one time. Looking at what fails the most on these engine under normal use. The valve train and head gaskets seem to be the biggest issue. I would definitely get cam bearings installed in the block so you'll have better oil pressure.

yeah ill be getting 600hp out of me 3.7 at half throttle ---what I was saying that 250 hp out of a 3.7 is achievable but im not looking at those figures --if the rate a a 190hp in stock form with that boat anchor head on it I cant see why 250hp would be hard--Anyway got some emails from Eagle and I guy Alan is willing to go out of his way to help and asked me the wait of the rods so im of to the machine shop to weigh them-I want my engine to be able to sit on 5500rpm all day

Do you plan on putting this dream motor on a dyno to see how much power you have?

you need to keep the rpm below 6000(5500 even better), neither the out drive or the timing chain will hold up to high rpm. There was a guy in Atlanta that took one of those motors and ran it in a NHRA econo/ rail car. One of the first things he did was eliminate the cam chain and went to a gear to gear drive
