Default Mercury outboard part question

I have a 1986 mercury black max 175. I need the oil pump arm, it goes between the oil pump ans throttle linkage. Its getting worn out and I am afraid its going to fall off. The local boat shop says its no longer available. Any ideas where I can get one?

Have you checked boats.net ? If they dont have it, then maybe its time to premix.

i probably got one laying around, but I agree, with Jason, at the age of that engine, you probably need to premix

So i should just start premixing? Thats a pain, but I would hate to fry my engine because of an oil pump. I guess I will look into what i have to do to remove the injection system.

that is a hot topic of debate, i have a 94 merc and still use the injection system. i feel i am on borrowed time, but i love the convienence. the motor just runs better . i do inspect my hoses and make sure my pump is pumping the correct amount about once a year, but i also carry a spare gallon of oil and at the first hint of trouble, i dump it in the gas tank. the problem with that is sometimes the first hint is when the motor seizes.

if you have ANY doubts, i'd premix...

And lets not forget the electronic oil injection upgrade.

I lost a Yamaha to oil injection once After that I always premixed till now with the new HDPI I have. One thing I do every spring (use to before and forgot) is run a tank of premix with the injection, Watch the oil tank to make sure injection is working, then its straight gas. I know its getting double oil that way but after a long winter nap I bet it needs it.
